A work that, through the use of an ucronic (alternative history), builds an ambience full of historical references and characters that intertwine and create the right representation of the world they live in.
The story is particular, in North America where there are five characters who live their lives in a world where the Nazis and the Japanese have won the war.
Their stories seem, initially, quiet, everyone has a job, a social life, hobbies etc. etc.
These people will be involved in a series of Machiavellian machinations and international conspiracies.
Why read this book? First of all because this give us an original point of view of what the world would be if the outcome of the war had been different. Also in the book we find a pseudobiblium, also this ucronic in the world of the novel, which is titled: "The grasshopper Lies Heavy" In which it is analyzed the world that would have been if they had won the allies and not the axis, then a book in the book.
Finally, the book is written very well, it is very pleasant to read and there are references to Japanese and American culture. The author does not just focus on the context of the American continent, in fact, there are various references in the book to the destiny of other continents.
For example, an interesting and sad epilogue would have been that of the Mediterranean Sea, drained with nuclear energy and made it a great agricultural land of the Fascist Italic Empire.

Oggi voglio parlarvi di un libro molto interessante, "La Svastica sul Sole" di Philip K. Dick.
Un'opera che, attraverso l'uso di un ucronia, costruisce un ambientazione ricca di riferimenti storici e personaggi che si intrecciano e creano la giusta rappresentazione del mondo in cui vivono.
La storia è particolare, si svolge in Nord America dove ci sono cinque personaggi che vivono le loro vite in questo mondo dove i nazisti e i giapponesi hanno vinto la guerra. Le loro storie sembrano, inizialmente, tranquille, ognuno ha un occupazione, una vita sociale, degli hobby ecc. ecc.
Queste persone saranno coinvolti in una serie di macchinazioni machiavelliche e complotti internazionali di vario tipo.
Perché leggere questo libro? Innanzitutto perché ci da una visione molto originale, per nulla scontata di quello che sarebbe stato il mondo se l'esito della guerra fosse stato diverso. Inoltre nel libro si parlerà di un libro pseudobiblium, ucronico nel mondo del romanzo, che s'intitola La cavalletta non si alzerà più, nel quale si analizza il mondo che sarebbe stato se avessero vinto gli alleati e non l'asse, è presente quindi un libro nel libro.
In generale il libro è scritto molto bene, è molto scorrevole e ci sono richiami alla cultura nipponica e americana. L'autore non si si sofferma solo sul contesto del continente americano, infatti nel libro ci sono riferimento sulla sorte che sarebbe spettata agli altri continenti. Ad esempio, un interessante e triste epilogo sarebbe stato quello del mar Mediterraneo, prosciugato con l'energia nucleare e reso un grande territorio agricolo dell'impero Italico fascista.
