Salve Readers! Oggi vi parlerò di un opera molto piccola ma molto molto interessante, "L'ignoto ignoto. Le librerie e il piacere di non trovare quello che cercavi" di Mark Forsyth. 

Hi Readers! Today I will talk about a very small but very very interesting work, "Unknown Unknown: Bookshops and the Delight of Not Getting What You Wanted" by Mark Forsyth.

In realtà ero titubante ad inserire questo libricino nel blog dato le sue dimensioni ridotte, ma siccome mi è piaciuto particolarmente e l'ho trovato stimolante eccoci qui. 

Actually I was hesitant to include this little book in my blog due to its small size, but since I particularly liked it and found it stimulating, here we are.

Il messaggio dell'opera si trovo già alla prima pagina del libro, ed è sostanzialmente questo: "ci sono cose che sappiamo di sapere, altre che sappiamo di non sapere e altre che ignoriamo di non sapere". Quest'ultime secondo l'autore (riferendosi ai libri come alla vita) sono le cose più belle che ci capita di scoprire.

The message of the work will find it at the first page of the book, and it is essentially this: "there are things we know we know, others we know we do not know and others we unknown unknown". The latter according to the author (referring to books as to life) are the most beautiful things that we happen to discover.

Sembra una banalità, ma l'autore la rende interessante e con la sua ironia ci fa venire una voglia matta di incontrarlo per una birra. Il libro è esilarante, pieno di aneddoti divertenti e "racconti bizari di libri".

It seems a banality, but the author makes it interesting and with his irony it makes us want to meet him for a beer. The book is hilarious, full of amusing anecdotes and "bizarre book stories".

Perché leggerlo? Perché come dicevo in precedenza Forsyth è molto divertente, la sua scrittura è scorrevole e piacevole. Inoltre mi sento di consigliarlo ad ogni amante e feticista di libri che magari si incuriosisce e tra i libri citati dall'autore gli viene voglia di leggere altro, scopre così il suo ignoto ignoto (forse) . 

Tra l'altro è un libro (pamphlet forse è più corretto) molto economico, e ci si passa una bellissima oretta della proprio tempo, leggetelo, non ve ne pentirete.

Why read this book? Because as I said before Forsyth is very funny, his writing is smooth and pleasant. Also I would recommend it to any lover and fetishist of books that maybe intrigues and among the books cited by the author he wants to read something else, so he discovers his unknown unknown (perhaps).
