Salve ragazzi, oggi vi voglio parlare di uno dei libri più belli che ho letto quest'anno e tra i più belli che abbia mai letto. Sto parlando de "I Versi Satanici" di Salman Rushdie.

Hi guys, today I want to talk about one of the most beautiful books I read this year and among the most beautiful I've ever read. I'm talking about "The Satanic Verses" by Salman Rushdie.

Il libro è controverso, sia dal punto di vista letterario che a livello culturale. Basti pensare che lo scrittore per la sua rielaborazione di un episodio coranico venne condannato a morte per bestemmia.

The book is complicated, both from a literary and a cultural point of view. Suffice it to say that the writer for his reworking of a Koranic episode was condemned to death for blasphemy.

La trama si sviluppa in modo non regolare con personaggi secondari e principali che si andranno ad intrecciare fra loro lentamente.

I protagonisti sono due uomini che sopravvivono ad uno schianto aereo sulla manica. I due uomini sono indiani di religione musulmana che diventano pian piano l'incarnazione dei valori del bene e del male. Il primo è Gibrieel Farishta, un attore bollywodiano al apice della sua carriera; il secondo è Saladin Chamcha, emigrato che si guadagna da vivere con la sua voce.

The plot develops in an irregular way with secondary and main characters that will be intertwined with each other slowly.

The protagonists are two men who survive an air crash. The two men are Indians of Muslim religion who slowly become the embodiment of the values of good and evil. The first is Gibrieel Farishta,

a Bollywodian actor at the height of his career; the second is Saladin Chamcha, an emigrant who earns his living by his voice.

Lo scrittore all'interno di questo capolavoro si muove nello spazio e nel tempo. Vediamo un India della ricchezza e dell'opulenza in contrasto con quella della povertà e del disagio che si trova a fare i conti con le sue difficoltà a far convivere le minoranze al suo interno; l'Inghilterra con le sue ambiguità e lo scontro fra autoctoni e migranti (tema molto attuale secondo me); Città di sabbia che vivono il loro apogeo in vista della loro disfatta e poi cadiamo sulle pampas argentine.

The writer in this masterpiece is moving in space and time. We see an India of wealth and opulence in contrast with that of poverty and discomfort that finds itself dealing with its difficulties in making the minorities coexist within it; England with its ambiguities and the clash between natives and migrants (very current theme in my opinion); Cities of sand that live their apogee in view of their defeat and then we fall on the Argentine pampas.

Il linguaggio di Rushdie può apparire particolare, in fatti non mancano gli arabismi e i richiami alla cultura indiana e mussulmana, ma se vi piace questo genere di libri lo troverete particolarmente scorrevole.

Rushdie's language may appear to be particular, in fact there is no lack of references to Indian and Muslim culture, but if you like this kind of books you will find it particularly sliding.

Perché leggerlo? Perché vediamo realtà, luoghi e storie di uomini a noi lontane, inoltre suggerisco questo libro agli amanti del viaggio onirico e del simbolismo perché il libro ne è impregnato. Un opera affascinate che ci fa scoprire nuovi vocaboli e culture. Sicuramente non è un libro per i lettori alle prime armi, o per chi vuole leggere qualcosa di leggero e spensierato, ma se siete amanti dei libri con storie intricate e personaggi variopinti non potete non avere quest'opera nella vostra libreria. Senza contare poi tutta l'analisi dell'antagonismo fra bene e il male presente nel libro.
Why read this book? Because we see reality, places and stories of men far from us, I also suggest this book to lovers of dream travel and symbolism because the book is impregnated. A fascinating work that makes us discover new words and cultures. Surely it is not a book for novice readers, or for those who want to read something light and carefree, but if you love books with intricate stories and colorful characters you can not have this work in your library. Not to mention the whole analysis of the antagonism between good and the evil present in the book.

Insomma, un'opera fantastica, prendetevi del tempo e godetevelo.
