Hi guys, today i want to talk about a W. Collins's work, "The Moonstone", written in 1868.
The story is simply but very intricate: everything begins at Lady Julia Verinder's home in Yorkshire, during a party for her daughter Miss Rachel, who for her 18th birthday inherits from her uncle a precious gem of Indian origin, around which there are a whole series of conspiracy theories.
During the night, Moonstone is stolen from Miss Rachel's room, so begins the series of events narrated in the book.
The work is about 480 pages, but the characters represent their social environment well and make us breathe the social atmosphere of Victorian England.
Why read this book? Because beyond the story full of twists and interesting characters, the events are told by the characters according to their own personal experiences, under Franklin Blake's commission who commissioning the memories to better reconstruct the facts and find the jewel again.

It was one of the most interesting thrillers I ever read, probably in the future I will read more about this author.

La storia è semplice ma molto intricata: tutto ha inizio a casa di lady Julia Verinder nello Yorkshire, durante una festa per la figlia Rachel, che per il suo 18esimo compleanno riceve in eredita dallo zio una gemma preziosa di origine indiana, intorno alla quale aleggiano tutta una serie di teorie complottistiche.
Durante la notte la Pietra di Luna viene trafugata dalla stanza di Miss Rachel, e inizia così la serie di eventi narrata nel libro.
Il libro è di circa 480 pagine, ma i personaggi rappresentano bene il loro ambiente sociale e ci fanno respirare l'atmosfera sociale dell'Inghilterra vittoriana.

Perché al di là della storia ricca di colpi di scena e personaggi interessanti, gli eventi vengono narrati dai personaggi secondo le loro personali esperienze, sotto commissione di Mr Franklin Blake che ne commissiona le memorie per ricostruire meglio i fatti e ritrovare così il gioiello.
È stato uno dei libri gialli più interessanti che abbia mai letto, probabilmente in futuro leggerò altro di questo autore.
