This book tells about events following Jean Louise Finch's return from New York to her native town in Alabama for summer holidays. In particular, he tells how the young woman takes notice of what that place really is, where she grew up and to what she is so attached.
Why read this book? Because it is a book that describes the intimate values of the old South, where friendliness and hypocrisy can live together. The author describes the complete history of this woman through the use of flashbacks, giving him a three-dimensionality that can make her almost real.
The tale gives us a break in Alabama's life and spirit, talking about his characters, describing society and historical situations.
Personally, I really liked this book and I think I'll read something about this writer again.

Oggi voglio parlare del libro che ho finito di leggere qualche sera fa, "Va', metti una sentinella" di Harper Lee. Questa è il primo libro della scrittrice famosa per "Il buio oltre la siepe".
Il libro racconta gli eventi che seguono il ritorno di Jean Louise Finch da New York al paese natio dell'Alabama per le vacanze estive. In particolare, di come la giovane donna, prende coscienza di quel che è veramente il posto dove è cresciuta e al quale è così attaccata.
Perché leggere questo libro? Perché è un libro che ci descrive nell'intimo i valori di un vecchio Sud, in cui cordialità e ipocrisia riescono a convivere. Inoltre, la scrittrice ci descrive la storia a tuttotondo di questa donna, attraverso l'uso di analessi, dandogli una tridimensionalità che riesce a renderla quasi reale.
Il racconto ci dà uno spaccato su quella che era la vita e lo spirito dell'Alabama, facendo parlare i suoi personaggi, descrivendo situazioni sociali e storiche.
Personalmente, questo libro mi è piaciuto moltissimo e credo leggerò ancora qualcosa di questa scrittrice.
