Men in the sun/Uomini sotto il Sole

Hi guys, today I want to tell you about a beautiful and touching book that I read some months ago.
"Men in the Sun" is the Ghassan Kanafani work's title.
It's a heartbreaking story of Abu Qais, Asad and Marwàn, escaped from the Palestinian refugee camps across the Iraqi desert to arrive in Kuwait, hoping to find a better future.

It is a history of migration published in 1963 that makes us reflect on the sad reality of today.
Why read Kanafani's work? Beacause in this work the writer describes the motives and moods of the protagonists in an excellent way, he tells the nakba (literally "disaster", "cataclysm") through his characters, each one tells it from a different point of view.
Beautiful and sad, "Men in the sun" is a book that show us a humanity with ambitions, fears and cumbersome past oppressing the present.
I recommend it not only to understand (at least in part) the tragic life of migrants, but even because he is the right writer ti start reading non-Western works.

Oggi voglio parlare di un libro bello e commovente che ho letto qualche mese fa.
Questa è l'opera di Ghassan Kanafani, "Uomini sotto al sole".
È una storia struggente che vede come protagonisti Abu Qais, Asad e Marwàn, che fuggiti dai campi profughi palestinesi, attraversano il deserto iracheno per arrivare a Kwait, sperando di trovare un futuro migliore.
Una storia di migrazione pubblicata nel 1963 che ci fa riflettere sulla triste realtà di oggi.
Perché leggere l'opera di Kanafani? Perché in quest'opera lo Scrittore descrive in modo eccellente i motivi e gli stati d'animo dei protagonisti, racconta della nakba (letteralmente "disastro", "cataclisma") attraverso i suoi personaggi, ognuno la raconta da un punto di vista diverso.
Bello e triste è un libro che pagina dopo pagina ci racconta un umanità con ambizioni, paure e con ingombranti passati che opprimono il presente. Si legge facilmente, lo scrittore sta avvolgendo e ci descrive totalmente estraneo a noi.
Lo raccomando, al di là della comprensione della tragica vita del migrante medio (almeno in parte), anche perché è lo scrittore giusto con cui cominciare a leggere scrittori non occidentali.
